In view of the fact that our game was off, I went to see the only game that was on in our area. It was an interesting game for the neutral supporter.
Carnoustie took it to Lithgae for the 1st quarter of an hour and went 0-2 up. Carnoustie seemed to play a lot harder than they did against us. Must have been up for the game more. Linlithgow then made a break through and it all went a bit downhill for Carnoustie after that. Linlithgow got into their stride and soon evened up the scoring. The weather was not particularly condusive to clever football. Carnoustie seemed to rally round but to no avail. I wonder how the game might have turned out if Carnoustie had manage to get another goal they may just have got back into the fight.
All in all a decent game, Carnoustie looked like they were tiring throughout the second half. But it shows if you go out and take it to Linlithgow it may be possible to wear them down. But it is clear that you need to be able to sustain the pace for the whole game.
Final score Linlithgow Rose 4 Carnoustie Panmure 2.

Carnoustie were the better of the two teams and deserved to be 2 goals up. However they disappeared completely once Rose decided to up the tempo of the game. In fact Panmure got away lightly at 4-2. Not sure what you mean by "if Carnoustie had scored another goal" - they never looked like scoring once Donnelly got the first for Rose. Sorry, but never saw Carnoustie rally round at any point. Both the Carnoustie goals were sloppy defensive mistakes on our part. The weather didn't really help, but the Maroon's won both halves, with and against the wind. Carnoustie like every team that the Rose play put in far more effort against us than they do other teams. Re your comments about taking the game to Linlithgow - that's exactly what the Rose want you to do.

My point was that if Carnoustie could have came back at Linlithgow for a spell to make it 4-3 then they might have lifted their game. They did have a couple of chances, there number 11 had a few breaks but I am not sure why no one went with him.
Re the point about everyone playing their hardest against Linlithgow, I personally do not accept that is the case, all the games in the Super League seem to be fairly even regardless of where we play.
But I do accept that Lithgae had more in the tank than Carnoustie, I think they were stunned, when the pace was upped.
However I was trying to give my account of the game as a neutral. It was a decent game for a neutral and that was my point in starting the thread. I did Linlithgow no injustice they dominated as you suggest and I admired the start Carnoustie made. Please note these are fair words from a neutral but die hard Camelon fan.. Lol
